Ripped From The Headlines!

I heard about this case on the local TV news broadcast but reading about it in the Centre Daily Times today, the words impacted me more from this medium I think than did the tv news airing about this. I'll copy it over for you to read.

The Associated Press
SOMERSET -- A man smashed his baby daughter's head into a bathroom sink, broke her leg and shocked her with a handheld electronic prod, authorities said.
Brandon Austill, 21, of Somerset, waived a preliminary hearing Thursday on more than 30 charges, including aggravated assault, child endangerment and carrying a prohibited offensive weapon.
Austill admitted to smashing the child's head against the sink and dining table, bending her leg over his shoulder until he heard it break and twice using the prod, police said.
Austill said he could not get his daughter, now 2 1/2 months old, to stop crying, police said. The alleged abuse occurred in September and October.
"I love my daughter," Austill told reporters as he left the hearing.
His attorney, Public Defender Kenneth Johnson, said Austill is very remorseful.
The child, who suffered broken bones, facial injuries and two skull fractures, is in foster care, police said.
The child's mother was not charged. Police said she told them she was not home when the abuse allegedly took place.
Police Chief Randy Cox said offers of money, toys, care products and adoption have poured in from throughout the United States and Canada.
Austill was in the county jail on $75,000 bond.

If this is how this young man shows his "love" for his child, I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end from his attentions if he didn't care for me, would you?

Reading this piece really makes one wonder what on earth is wrong with this guy? Why on earth, if a newborn especially, is crying to begin with, would anyone possibly think that to create more pain and discomfort to this infant would make her stop crying? This guy has to have a screw loss somewhere in there!

You betcha he is "remorseful" now - he got caught up in his evil antics, is in jail now too - good reasons there to be remorseful, aren't they though?

I'm not normally an "eye for an eye" type person, but boy, reading this makes me want to take his leg and bend it till it snapped or prod him with electric devices too just to see if that would make him STOP crying! Yeah, right! Well, considering I know I would be no physical match to him and couldn't do those things to him - most likely would have second thoughts too about trying to do that too - he doesn't have to worry about me taking revenge on him.

And, since this took place in another county in the state, if the case would come to trial, he wouldn't have to worry about having me as an irate and biased juror either! But, whatever happens to him, I do hope the courts see fit not to let him see the light of day for a long, long time and maybe consider castration as part of his punishment because anyone who treats an infant in that manner, sure should never be allowed to procreate again! NOT EVER!
