Pay Per View TV

Do you have the Pay Per View TV or Direct View or any of those services that you have to pay extra just to view a particular program or a movie?

We don't have that with our cable here - although my daughter Carrie has it available with her cable service.

However, apparently Miss Maya - ever the little Princess that she is - must be thinking we have that service and that it is accessed simply by putting coins - nickels, dimes, quarters, etc., into the video carrier portion of our VCR/DVD player cause that's what the 16-year-old found in there today. As a result, the machine won't function at all now, thanks to Maya's version of Pay Per View TV.

Looks like we'll have to add a new DVD/VCR player to our shopping list in the near future, doesn't it?

We have just basic cable, but we have TIVO. I wasn't for it when my husband got it but I am a TIVO lover now. You can have it record genres, like kid shows, and when you watch them you can skip through the commerical.

Instead of Pay per view, I would do net flix, very easy and very inexpensive.

Hey maybe Maya is on to something- to charge everyone in the house to use the electronical devices, and it could maybe pay for your electrical bill :)

That is just too funny. Kids will put anything they find into any area that will accomodate....

We have Dish Network. Comcast is known in these parts for their abysmal customer service. After a couple of incidents with Comcast, my wife wants nothing more to do with them. We haven't had any problems with Dish in seven years.

As Theresa said, though, Netflix is the way to go. Cheap and convenient. Gotta get your DVD fixed first, though...

Now how sweet is that...I can remember when my brother and I were little...we put rocks in my sisters gas tank...we loved the sound it made when the rocks hit the bottom...don't ask how we managed to get into the gas tank of her car..we just did...I never knew what came of that....I should as her one day....

As for pay per view....we just got a satallite dish...we now get over 2500 stations and we don't pay for a thing...we had to pay to get the box and the dish...but that is it...its no biggy to me...I don't watch that much TV but when I am working nights hubby like to watch his extreme sports and fishing shows...and movies....it's kinda of a guy thing...but it makes him happy...I know the kids are going to love it when they come....no more renting movies off of the TV and no more going to the video store...gosh I will miss them...guess I will just have to drop in to say hi some day....

Makes sense to me! TV like a vending machine, why not??

When my son was about three years old or so he attempted to put a peanut butter sandwich into our VCR. I guess that slot looked like the perfect size or something. Kids! Gotta love 'em!

Sounds like a good way to save money, just put it in the VCR/DVD Player. Have a good weekend.

Jen: Speaking of cable, I hate comcast. We've had nothing but problems with them from day one! Just to let you know, my grandson got his job back last night! My daughter and son in law researched the disablities act set up an appointment with the district manager of Mcdonalds and he agreed to give him another position with many apologies. Gotta love these parents

I have DirecTV and I never order Pay-Per-View unless it is showing Boxing. It's expensive ($49.95 a show), but it's worth the fun especially when friends are coming over.

By the way, nice story on Maya. :P Reminds me of my younger sister when she was little.

If you put money in, something should come out, right?! Miss Maya, what a little silly!
When Dustin was little, my dad came over to try to repair my VCR that had stopped working. He found a couple of oatmeal cookies stuffed inside, cleaned them out, and it worked just fine for several more years - lol!
