Closer Still (to the Wire)

Incredible as it may seem, the past eight years of the current administration are quickly passing, coming to an end. I have no idea what I'll do next year if no one gives me a new desk calendar -maybe one that is the "Absolute Best of Bush Over the Years" or something like that. Who know, maybe someone is preparing another day calendar with quotes of some other type, equally crazy, zany, absurd, at times. I'll have to check this out I guess.

But in the meantime, here's this week's group of Bushisms.

Monday, December 8, 2008 - 43 days left

"The great thing about America is everybody should vote."
--Austin, Texas, December 8, 2000

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 - 42 days left

"And so during these holiday seasons, we thank our blessings..."
--Fort Belvoir, Virginia, December 2004

Wednesday, December 10, 2008 - 41 days left

"I couldn't imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah."
--The White House, December 10, 2001, at the annual lighting of the menorah

Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 40 days left

"In other words, I don't think people ought to be compelled to make the decision which they think is best for their family."
-Washington, D.C., December 11, 2002 --regarding smallpox vaccinations

Friday, December 12, 2008 - 39 days left

"I mean, there was a serious international effort to say to Saddam Hussein, you're a threat. And the 9/11 attacks extenuated that threat, as far as I -- concerned."
--Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, December 12, 2005

Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14, 2008 - 38 days left and 37 days left.

The U.S. Military captures Saddam Hussein in Baghdad. As of January 1, 2007, Osama bin Laden is still in charge.

These Bushisms never cease to amaze me.

I nominated you for an award. Stop by my blog on Tuesday to pick it up.

Thank you for visiting my Blue Monday blog. I'd be glad to tell you the route that we take through Big Valley. It's kind of like a treasure hunt. Sometimes you drive up a long lane thinking it's the location of a shop - but it isn't. Of course, in the summer Wednesday is sale day and there are all kinds of good things to be found. I really enjoyed your Festival of Trees post.

Funny how you poke fun at George Bush (how boring, by the way) with your "Bushisms". Have you ever proofread your own material?

I don't think people ought to be compelled to make the decision which they think is best for their family.

This explains why so many people vote Republican. And why Republicans assume people will vote against their own interests.

Yes, I am wondering what you will do next year....I am sure you will come up with something to hold our interest.

The end is in sight!
