Burger and Fries!

I don't know how you all feel about what to order when eating out, but there are times when nothing tastes better to me that a good old burger and an order of french fries.

Thursday was one of those days for me.

Mandy and the kids and I were going over to Clearfield for some groceries and decided to stop at our favorite local restaurant - Jim and Charmaine's. More often than not, I tend to order a grilled chicken sandwich there but for some reason this past visit, I had a yen for a nice big old burger, with melted cheddar cheese and grilled onions on it and give me a side order too of those seasoned "Beer batter french fries" too will you please?

Although burgers are relatively easy to fix at home and I generally don't order food when I am out that I can just as easily fix at home, but for some reason or other, burgers cooked on our griddle here at home just don't have the right flavor or pizzaz that it has when I order it at a restaurant.

My plate was heaped to the very brim too with the french fries - a super-sized order without even requesting that it be supersized! Kurtis and Maya both helped me polish the fries off. I know, that's probably bad to be putting things like that in front of them, clogging their arteries at such an early age. But dang, kids gotta learn to enjoy things too somehow, don't they?

I also have to have a side of mayonnaise to smear some of it on my burger and then, use the rest to dip my french fries in it too. Mmmmm, good! Trust me!

Much as I love to have a shake to go along with this meal, they don't make milkshakes up at J&C's and besides, having worked many years as a waitress and knowing what a pain in the dupa milkshakes can be to make, I refuse to order them in a restaurant -unless it is at Dairy Queen. So my beverage of choice was coffee and a glass of ice water.

That meal held me nicely all night till Friday morning when I got up and started my day with a cup of coffee. No cravings, no hunger pangs at all, the whole night! Now that was a bonus for me too!

How about you? What's your thoughts about that good old American favorite - burger, fries and a soda or a shake?

After reading this post and having just finished spending the entire day cleaning the house and finding it's dinner time, I'm starving for a burger and fries! I love a mushroom and swiss burger and a big side order of fries. I need to have a diet coke along side it though. A shake just fills me up so much I can't eat the actual meal.

I really enjoy a good burger and fries but I'm a bit of a traditionalist in that I don't like to put a bunch of stuff on it other than cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mustard and mayo. I want to be able to taste the burger and not all the accompaniments! Oh, and love to dip my fries in mayo, too - I learned that trick from a friend I had in the Air Force years and years ago who told me that there was nothing better ever! She was right!

Oh, and I think I forgot to tell you that you've been tagged over at my blog!

Sounds wonderful I can't remember when I last had a burger and fries it must be literally over ten years.

Right now I am desperately trying to lose some weight before I go for this special glucose test the doctor wants me to have to ascertain if I am pre-diabetic or not so hamburgers and fries and not on the menu at all at all. I have lost 2lbs so now I am 148lbs but he wants me at 145. It has been really hard. One of the many reasons why I have not been blogging so much is that I have been trying to exercise more. I know how to maintain my weight but losing it is very difficult.

Oh man! I had that double bacon cheeseburger carving earlier in the week. I ignored it and it gradually went away.

Now you're gonna make me want one again and this time I may just have to give in to it!

Delicious, but sadly I have to stay away from such foods most of the time (fat content, arteries, HEART!)

There is a restaurant here in town that makes the perfect fries. I might break down and have them once a month (not even that often).

Oh, forgot to mention - there is another place here that makes bison burgers - same taste, but the meat is very lean and low fat. I avoid adding cheese to it - just dill pickle, tomato, a couple condiments - and it's a guilt-free burger for me!
