The Odd, Strange and Curious

Terry at Terry's Playpen is responsible for my writing this post. Why is that? Simple. Because he tagged me and since I'm already behind in responding to other tags right now, I figured I'd best do this one right now, while I'm still partially awake and maybe I can recall six little-known facts about me!

The Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you (that's me!).

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write six random things about you in your blog post.

4. Tag six people in your post.

5. Let each person know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

1. When I was a kid in elementary school, every report card I ever brought home always had a checkmark in the "Whispers" column. Do you suppose that was the start of my long-winded posts?

2. I knew how to read before I started first grade because my grandfather had been reading to me from very early on and by the time I was four years old, I could read all my "Golden Reader" books.

3. I lived apart from my Mom for almost 18 months -bouncing from living with my grandparents, to living with my grandparents with my Mom's older sister and her husband, then back to the homestead here with my grandparents and another short stay again with my aunt and uncle all while my Mom lived in Niagara Falls with her younger sister and worked up there until my grandparents refused to leave their home again and someone had to stay with them so my Mom returned back here.

4. When I was in second grade, I took a "Reader's Digest" to school. To my teacher's surprise, I read from it. She told me years and years later I was the only second grader she ever had who brought the "Reader's Digest" to school and could actually read it.

5. When I was in 4th grade, I read the novel "Not As A Stranger." I re-read it again when I was in 8th grade and another time after that when I was a senior in high school. It was amazing how much more I understood of that book with each subsequent reading. Also amazing that my Mom never tried to stop me from reading it either.

6. I took piano lessons as a child for about 3 years total. I took Violin lessons too from the time I was in 4th grade through 6th grade. Never got very good at that instrument. I took French Horn lessons too for a year and the school music teacher even put me in the marching band with that instrument after I'd been learning it for about six months, which was a very big mistake on his part. It's really difficult to learn to march in steps and patterns when you can't really walk and chew gum at the same time. I'd have been lucky if I could have played a piece on the French Horn simply in a seated position but trying to do all the other maneuvering and playing the correct notes too -I soon gave up that venture -probably to the pleasure of the music teacher and band director too I would guess.

Now -I'm supposed to select six other bloggers and tag them. Gosh, I hate doing that but this time, I will follow through and here are my six tagged bloggers:

Beth
OH Mommy
Dottie
Sandi
Rick
Terri

Have fun and now, have a good day or good night -whichever one applies -as I am going to bed and at a somewhat decent hour no less! (It's not even 12:30 a.m. here as I sign off for tonight.)
